Having tasted disappointment against Millwall ahead of the October international break, Leeds United weren’t only looking to get back to winning ways in Saturday’s Championship clash with Birmingham City, we were looking to celebrate our centenary in the correct fashion.

Whilst the performance wasn’t perfect and the same old issues showed up when it came to how clinical we are (and against Birmingham, it was a far more open game than usual), Kalvin Phillips’ 65th minute effort was enough to take the win and the three points moved us back into second place in the second tier table.

Statistics website Whoscored were very positive in their player ratings following the narrow win, and Phillips naturally took their star man award with a score of 8.65 to lift Man of the Match.

Completing the top five best performers in their eyes were goalkeeper Kiko Casilla (7.54), Ezgjan Alioski (7.21), Luke Ayling (7.15) and Ben White (7.11).

Gaetano Berardi also got himself a 7.04 rating for his efforts.

A decent weekend all in, but if we could start killing teams off, it would really boost confidence.
